Closing date: 20 April 2025

PLEASE DO NOT APPLY USING THE DERBYSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL WEBSITE, PLEASE SEE DETAILS BELOW.

QEGSMAT are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Deputy Headteacher to join our hardworking and high achieving team at Springfield Junior School.  We were inspected in March 2024 and graded ‘Good’ in all areas. Our school, based in Swadlincote, Derbyshire, is a vibrant community with pupils and staff who are proud to be here, and enthusiastic about their learning.

Our school has 195 pupils from years 3 to 6, including an Enhanced Resource which meets the needs of 16 pupils with an Education, Health and Care Plan.

We are seeking a self-motivated, enthusiastic, and passionate Deputy Headteacher who is ready to embed the work we have begun, and to continue driving forward the progress made so far. In a community with a higher-than-average level of pupil premium, we build in opportunities for our pupils to explore the wider world, with residentials, trips and visits which broaden cultural capital, and sporting teams which are both popular and successful. We have a strong School Ambassador programme, with pupils passionate about their roles. Our teachers and support staff dedicate their time and energy to helping all our pupils feel safe, happy and welcome.

You will be able to work collaboratively with the Headteacher and our Trust’s central team, who will support you and who are a regular presence in the school. You will have a great sense of humour and be ready to enjoy and embrace the successes and challenges of Deputy Headteacher, knowing you will have a great team of people there alongside you.

At QEGSMAT we believe and promote that exceptional workforce creates exceptional results; they transform lives and transform futures. We support every pupil to achieve their full potential and become a confident, resilient, and compassionate individual who can make a positive contribution to society.

Why work for us?

  • Continual access to CPD opportunities. QEGSMAT works with a large number of organisations to develop staff to fulfil their aspirations and potential. We are committed to providing first-rate training and development to all our staff within this evolving Trust.
  • We are committed to promoting equality, challenging discrimination, and developing community cohesion. We welcome applications from all sections of the community.
  • All staff have access to our Employee Assistance Programme, which provides confidential, independent and unbiased information and guidance 24/7.  This can also include bespoke counselling sessions for staff if needed.
  • All roles are subject to nationally agreed terms and conditions of service.
  • With access to Teacher Pension Scheme employer contributions of 28.68%.
  • Family friendly policies
  • Access to Flu Vaccines
  • Opportunity to work flexibly
  • Access to 750+ discounts on everyday essentials via our benefits package with Vivup

QEGSMAT is also committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. It is a criminal offence to engage or seek to engage in regulated activity or regulated work with children, if you appear on the DBS barred list.  All appointments are subject to an Enhanced DBS check and be eligible to work in the UK.
