Health Improvement Advisor (Weight Management/Mental Health)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Derbyshire County Council’s Public Health Department to support the delivery of a new pathway, supporting people with Severe Mental Illness to access support from Live Life Better Derbyshire. We are looking to appoint a Health Improvement Advisor to deliver healthier weight sessions with individuals referred for behaviour change support following their annual physical health check.

This is a unique opportunity to join a new, dynamic, and growing service which is looking for individuals with a passion and ability for supporting people to become healthier. The post will be based at County Hall, Matlock but will require mostly home working and travel across Derbyshire to attend training/meetings as required.

The applicant should have knowledge of mental health system and experience of working with people with moderate-severe mental health difficulties. You will require excellent communication and listening skills, with a knowledge of behaviour change and a good understanding of factors affecting health. You will require experience of working independently and as part of a team. A good level of IT literacy will also be required to maintain accurate client records.
